Studio at the ELEPHANT
with Rebecca Davies and Eva Sajovic

Elephant and Castle is one of London’s most intriguing,
controversial and culturally rich areas. In an attempt to
capture and celebrate the Elephant, photographer
Eva Sajovic and recent RCA graduate Rebecca Davies
are taking up a three-month residency in unit 207/208
of the Elephant and Castle’s Shopping centre.

Studio at the Elephant, which aims to provide an
opportunity for locals to voice their opinions creatively,
will be opening its doors for people to get involved in
workshops, participate in discussions and enjoy some of
the screenings. The Unit will also be a studio for
Eva and Rebecca and a place of temporary residence to
visiting artists.

Commenting on Studio at the Elephant, Stephen Humphrey, historian and archivist,
author of The Elephant said:
‘The idea of having a unit devoted to the arts and to public events is a commendable one.
I gave a talk in the existing unit on the history of the Elephant and Castle.
The sizeable audience and obvious interest on the part of local people suggests that there would be a good response to a longer programme centered on the arts.’
